It's official - Wye really has got talent!

The Wye’s Got Talent charity competition was a major success, with over £3500 raised in the process.

Three cheques were raised and awarded to each of the 3 beneficiaries: Wye Parish Church (Youth Group), Wye Football (Monarchs) and Lady J Thornhill (Friends).

The quality of the acts were outstanding, and despite it being a 3 hour show, friends, residents, mums, dads, aunts, uncles, grannys, grandads and many children all stayed to see who won the competition to be crowned Wye’s superstars!

Our three comperes for the day were: Mike Adams, Tom Miller & Bill Jones of Spring Grove

Winner:       Phoebe Warden - who performed an original voice composition
2nd Place:   Melody  Wakelin - who performed a voice number to a backing track
2nd Place:   Ross Hardman - who performed a voice number to a backing track
3rd Place:    Little Boys Blue - Spring Grove 12-bar blues
4th Place:   Ollie Paterson - who preformed an excellent original Dance routine
Each of the winners recevied a prize or cash and a trophy.

For me, the talent in Wye has been clearly demonstrated, the quality of the acts was outstanding, the singers, dancers and performers was amazing. Memorable moments inlcude ABBA, Dr Alan Fox, who performed a mime which had me laughing out loud and Wye Life (A capella vocal quartet) who also had me in tears of laughter, and of course, not forgetting our very own vicar Ravi Holy, who performed an excellent Elvis impersonation.

I'd also like to thank the committee that helped ensure this was a success: James Thompson, Richard Morris (Vice Chair), Ann Sutherland, Jo Rall, Jeremy Chesnutt, Jenny Wright, Kevin Grout, Matthew King and Ravi Holy.

Of course none of this would have been possible had it not been for: James Thompson (right hand man), Jamie & Rachel Phipps (Sound and Lighting + his helpers + his fantastic band), Ian Sloan (stage), Jeremy Chesnutt (images, logos, etc), Andy Gubb (website), Claire Cunningham and Angela Smith (Friends of Wye), Lewis (Friends of Church), Martin (Ripple Farm), Andy Kelly (Posters), Li Brookman and her team (photos), Tom Bennett (and the Norton Knatchball Jazz Band), Joely Tonna and the small army of helpers that helped prepare on the day, serve the teas, take tickets, clean up in the evening and the following day - a big thank you (sorry if I have missed anyone off)!

Special thanks to Mike Adams, Tom Miller & Bill Jones of Spring Grove who did an excellent job making the show run smoothly.

Another round of applause for the judges: Emma Thomson, Matthew King, Alison Race and Josephine Buchan - who had the difficult job of making decisions at the auditions and the show.

Overall, we all had fun making this happen and I'm really proud to be part of this fantastic community, long may it continue.
